Charlotte's parents passed away, and she was adopted by her uncle and aunt. As they grew older, her uncle arranged for Charlotte to marry Mike from the Davis family for the sake of a business partnership. In reality, Mike is a playboy and often has sexual relations with Ella. Upon discovering this, Charlotte angrily cancels her engagement with Mike and marries a homeless man named Jackson whom she found on the street.
